Festival postponed until 2021
The popular Japan Festival Wellington has been postponed until March 6, 2021.
Originally scheduled for November this year, the organising Wellington Japan Festival Trust decided that the uncertainties surrounding the Covid-19 situation over the coming months meant that it was best to hold the event later.
“This is such a popular event and we wanted people to feel confident and comfortable coming along to the TSB Arena to enjoy their taste of Japanese culture,” Trust chair Jennifer King said.
“We are hoping to bring in some amazing performers from Japan as well as featuring all our great local acts.”
The expanded footprint of the Festival in March next year will see a new Japanese Food Court in Shed Six with tables and chairs for comfortable dining as well as a small secondary stage.
The main stage together with craft and retail stalls, workshops, demonstrations and exhibition areas will be in the TSB Arena.
The March event will be the seventh biennial Festival of its kind in Wellington.
